1st day with Explorer Elementary:
I think that our first day went great! We got to meet our new buddies, and learn about them. My buddies names are Zoe and Katriel. They are both girls just like me. They were also both born in California and both have at least have one brother. Zoe and I both have fun when we are at friend's houses. Me and Zoe also both like the movie/story Mulan, and both me and Katriel like the movie/story Sleeping Beauty. I found out that the reason that Zoe likes the movie Mulan the best is because she doesn't like the whole gooey gooey princess thing. As for Katriel; she said she kind of liked the whole princess thing, as well as agreeing with Zoe. We noticed that one of the things that most fairy tales have in common, is that there is always a happy ending.

Art With Ms. Tish:
I had a lot of fun today. We got to paint two practice murals. We all got a different color paint and a paint brush. Then she lined us up infront of the mural paper that hung on the wall. We all had a few turns to walk next to and paint across the mural paper. After we finished the first one, we observed it and talked about what we noticed, liked, and didn't like. For the second practice mural, we had to paint the mural paper using a different technique than regular brush strokes. For example; splattering the paint, using your hands/fingers, etc. After we all got cleaned up, we wrote about what we saw in either the first, or the second mural. We had to write in depth using descriptive words. We then shared out what we had written. I think that the most challenging part of this activity was trying to imagine what kind of things we saw in the mural. This is because we really needed to be creative and detailed. One thing that I could've shanged about Ms. Tish's lesson today is that instead of individually writing about the things we saw in the murals, I would have rather discussed it as a group. I also think that Ms. Tish could have elaborated on what the reason was for using the various techniques.

Sounds like you have a little difference in opinion on the whole princess thing. I'm sure you will do a great job working through the compromise!
