March 22, 2007

Today, we went on a field trip to Chicano Park.

1. Something interesting or catches my eye.

The reason I chose this mural painting for the subject "Something interesting or catches my eye" is because it was painted with very bright colors that seem to pop out at you. It is a painting of a large man. His skin is a bright yellow, and his eyes are a lime, evil looking, green. He has crazy, long, yellow hair. Another reason why i chose this particular mural painting is because the main character in it is very large. The painting itself looked to be about 15 feet tall. It was painted directly underneath a road (a bridge type of thing), so it as the illusion that the large man is holding up the bridge.

2. Gives me a sense of power.

This mural painting gives me a sense of power because it almost looks like there are three very important gods that are ruling over the earth. The three large heads are the three gods. The pink circle in the background is the earth. I think that if the earth and gods were what the painter was trying to paint, then they probably chose to make the god's heads bigger than the earth for a reason. I think that reason might be that the painter was trying to represent how big and powerful gods are.
